Bus trip planned to Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - On Saturday, Oct. 21, the Franklin County Master Gardeners will host a bus trip to Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater, near Farmington, Pa., and the Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh. The bus will leave the extension office, 181 Franklin Farm Lane in Chambersburg, at 5:30 a.m. and return at approximately 8:30 p.m. The cost is $62 and space is limited. Call the extension office at 717-263-9226 to reserve a seat.

The Phipps Conservatory was constructed in 1893, and is home to 13 indoor rooms including the palm court, orchid room and tropical fruit and spice room. Outdoor gardens include the discovery garden, Japanese courtyard garden and a medicinal plant garden. A new Tropical Forest Exhibit is slated to open this fall, and glass art by Dale Chihuly will be on display.

Tickets for the bus trip cost $62, which include guided tours at both sites, deluxe motorcoach transportation, admissions and driver gratuity. Purchase tickets at the extension office. There will be a convenience stop on the way to and from Fallingwater, and a pick-up for Fulton County residents in Breezewood. Lunch will be on your own at the Phipps.
