ROMNEY, W.Va. - Matt Tiano and D.J. Upson each scored to lead the Cougars.

David Fuelhart and Chris Lambert had an assist each for Jefferson (12-0-1). The Cougars outshot Hampshire, 25-3.

No. 3 Greencastle 6, Boiling Springs 1

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Evan Wiestling and Treavor Gelsinger each scored a pair of goals, while Mac Frederick had a goal and two assists as Greencastle beat Boiling Springs in a Mid-Penn Capital match.

Josh Higman added a goal and Jordan Gembe and Andrew Cordell each had an assist for the Blue Devils (8-2, 5-1). John Zook had five saves for Greencastle, which outshot the Bubblers, 28-12. JV: Tied, 0-0.


No. 4 Hedgesville 2, University 0

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Rashid Deen and Simon Lee-Feuillet teamed up for two goals in the final 15 minutes to lift Hedgesville.

Deen scored the first goal in the 75th minute off a Lee-Feuillet pass to put the Eagles (9-1-1) ahead. Minutes later, Lee-Feuillet took a Deen pass and scored. Hedgesville outshot University, 11-3.

Berkeley Springs 3, Goretti 3

Matt Martin had a goal and an assist, while Josh Wise and Ian Whibley each added a goal for Berkeley Springs (4-4-5). Matt Sugg made six saves.

Collin Lam scored two goals for St. Maria Goretti, which got its third goal on an own goal.

Bishop Walsh 1, St. James 0

SAINT JAMES - Ray Miller scored on an assist from John Palin to lift Bishop Walsh in overtime.

Bennett Opitz had 12 saves for St. James (2-3-2).

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - Amy Wright scored twice and Kristen Marshall added a goal and an assist for Martinsburg.

Emma Mattax had two assists, Sarah Lazur added one and Morgan Hunley made four saves for the Bulldogs (5-6-2).

ST. JAMES - Caroline Salisbury scored and Allie Marriott made five saves for St. James (1-7).

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Musselman defeated all three of its opponents in a quad meet. The Applemen swept St. James 25-7, 25-8, Mercersburg Academy 25-13, 25-15 and Berkeley Springs, 25-16, 25-14.

Alyse Custer led Musselman (14-2) with 22 kills and four blocks, while Stephanie Wood added 13 kills and three blocks and Megan Holmes had 11 kills and three blocks. Chelsea Wheaton had 30 service points, including 14 aces, and 56 assists.

Grace wins Pumpkin Classic

STEVENS CITY, Va. - Rebecca Morgan and Kristin Serafini were named co-MVPs as Grace Academy won the Pumpkin Classic at Shenandoah Valley Christian.

The Knights (7-0) did not lose a game in the double-elimination tournament, sweeping United Christian, Shenandoah Valley and Evangel Christian to win the title.

Morgan had 14 kills, 20 digs, 29 service points and 10 aces, while Serafini had 20 assists, 18 kills, 25 service points and seven aces. Megan Cox had 12 kills and 17 digs.

Cox and Amber Knuckles were named to the all-tournament team.


Young paces Saints

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Dean Young placed 96th out of 213 runners in the boys race to lead St. James at the Spiked Shoe Invitational.

Young covered the 3.1-mile course in 18:32.1.
