Children's Village teaches safety

September 24, 2006

Children's Village of Washington County, at 1546 Mount Aetna Road in Hagerstown, is a not-for-profit safety education organization that has provided elementary school children of the county with the safety skills necessary to make informed decisions since it was established in 1991.

Classes are provided for children taught in private and church schools, as well as for those taught at home. Children from outside the county may attend the classes for a fee.

While not a part of Washington County Public Schools, Children's Village receives bus transportation and curriculum support.

The phone number is 301-733-4443.

Other financial support comes in the form of grants, private donations, foundations, contributions from Washington County and the gaming commission. Several grants are tied to the Department of Homeland Security/FEMA.

Fundraisers also are held.

The phone number is 301-733-4443.
