Twyman, No. 1 'Dogs run over Broad Run

ASHBURN, Va. - Josh Twyman ran for 146 yards and two touchdowns to lead No. 1 Martinsburg to a 42-14 victory over Broad Run (1-2) on Thursday.

Dustin Peters threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Alford, hit Xavier Peters for a 20-yard TD strike and ran for a 6-yard TD.

Zach Newhouse scored on a 5-yard run and Cameron Shelton kicked a 29-yard field goal for the Bulldogs (3-1).

Twyman has 3,148 career rushing yards.

No. 3 Jefferson 17, Potomac Falls 7

STERLING, Va. - Justin Grantham scored on a 27-yard pass from Jonathan Hash in the second quarter to give Jefferson the lead.


Samuel Moore's 25-yard field goal gave Jefferson a 10-0 lead in the third quarter, and Aaron Kessel scored on a 24-yard run in the fourth quarter for the Cougars (3-2).

Jefferson's Ryland Newman rushed for 120 yards.

Jefferson's defense held Potamac Falls to no first downs and minus-5 yards in the first half.

Bishop Walsh 28, Williamsport 26

CUMBERLAND, Md. - Colton Linton scored on a 64-yard interception return for Williamsport. Kyle Cunningham rushed for 174 yards for the Wildcats.

Sidwell Friends 12, St. James 0

WASHINGTON - Jimmy Sutch ran for 76 yards on 19 carries but St. James was only able to total 117 yards of offense as the Saints were shut out by Sidwell Friends in the Mid Atlantic Conference opener for both teams.

St. James (0-3, 0-1) held Sidwell to 225 yards of offense and kept the Quakers out of the end zone in four of their six red-zone appearances.

Bill Akman and Doug Imshoe both scored on 4-yard runs for the Quakers (1-2, 1-0).
