BLUE RIDGE SUMMIT, Pa. - Weighing in at 138 pounds, Patrick E. Fleagle led Waynesboro Area Senior High School to a Tri-State League championship as captain of the wrestling squad in 1969.

His personal record, which stood at 9-9, is now on the line in a contest nearly 40 years later.

Fleagle, who serves the 90th District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, has been partnered with World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Fame member Nikolai Volkoff in a charity match Oct. 7 to support area children.

"Needless to say, I don't weigh that now, so I won't attempt to get into my tights," Fleagle said.

The 55-year-old's preparation for the special event hosted by Summit Wrestling Association will include wrestling with his grandsons and a crash course before the bell sounds that night, he said.

"I don't really need a lot of physical training because I'm in excellent shape as everyone knows," Fleagle deadpanned.

All proceeds from the evening will go toward purchasing gifts for children over the holidays, said Mike Pryor, co-owner of the Summit Wrestling Association.

The $10 tickets, on sale at Mountain Shadows Restaurant, buy admission to a scheduled nine-match card starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Blue Ridge Summit Fire Hall.

"We can sell up to 350," Pryor said.

Fleagle and Volkoff will face off against Spencer Christian and Leslie Letterman in the final match of the evening.

"This is the first time we've done anything like this," Pryor said, explaining the inclusion of a celebrity nonwrestler into the show. The group has hosted similar events to raise money for its Christmas program and other charities.

Fleagle said he denied an offer to have half of the proceeds benefit his re-election campaign. Fleagle, who actively runs ambulance calls, also joked about having other emergency medical technicians on site to watch out for him.

"This is always all real. You always take the falls and the hits," he said with a touch of sarcasm in his voice.

Other wrestlers on the card include Mike Hay, "The Pinnacle" Shawn Patrick, Shane McIntyre, Snatch Haggis, Tank Thomas, Chris Hay, Justin Cage, Chucky Wynn, Rockin' Rebel, Jason Static, Mike Ratick and Bazooka Joe.
