Borough wants bushes, shrubs cleared from streets

September 21, 2006

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - The Borough of Waynesboro's code enforcement officer is pushing landowners to better maintain bushes, shrubs and trees that extend over public streets or alleys.

The clearances, under borough ordinance, are 8 feet over walkways, 12 feet over alleys and 16 feet over streets. Dead and decaying limbs are completely prohibited if they hang over public right of way.

The code is designed to keep foliage from interfering with vehicular or pedestrian traffic.
