Know more in 30 seconds for Jefferson County

September 20, 2006

The issue: Land-use experts retained by the Jefferson County Commission say the county's land-use regulations have not been effective in managing urban and suburban growth or protecting agricultural areas. Kendig Keast has proposed new land-use regulations for the county.

What's new: Two public hearings and workshop sessions are being held this week to present information on proposals for new land use regulations. The second one is today at 7 p.m. in the lower level of the Charles Town Library at 200 E. Washington Street.

What's next: County officials believe that Kendig Keast officials will probably review the public comments and possibly re-write the first three chapters of the proposal.
