Clear Spring goes to Williamsport and upsets Wildcats

WILLIAMSPORT - Mandi Jenkins had 17 kills and 17 digs to lead Clear Spring to an upset of No. 2 Williamsport 21-25, 25-20, 16-25, 25-21, 15-10 on Tuesday.

Lynsee Vincent had eight kills and six blocks, Katelyn Blickenstaff had 19 assists, Emily Steinacker had 16 assists and Emily Pinkham and Lindsay Lacy had seven aces each for the Blazers (2-1).

Jessica Bennett had 12 kills and 17 digs, Hailee Growden had 11 kills and 18 digs and Christine Barnes added 31 assists for the Wildcats (2-2). JV: Williamsport, 2-0.


Boonsboro 3, Smithsburg 0

BOONSBORO - Tara Garver led Boonsboro with 15 assists, nine digs, seven kills and six aces as the Warriors swept Smithsburg, 25-18, 25-22, 25-18.

Jerica Hewett had 11 kills, seven digs and three blocks, while Katie Gantz added eight service points and six kills and Emma Dalton tallied six digs, five blocks and three kills for Boonsboro (2-2). JV: Boonsboro, 25-12, 25-10.

Hancock 3, Paw Paw 0

PAW PAW, W.Va. - Stacie Powers had 16 service points and six kills, Kim Knable had 10 service points and seven kills and Holly Funk added 14 service points for Hancock in a 25-17, 25-13, 25-19 sweep.

McConnellsburg 3, Tussey Mtn. 0

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Gretchen Swope had nine kills to lead McConnellsburg to a 25-7, 25-9, 25-18 sweep of Sideling Hill League opponent Tussey Mountain.

Kayla Bailey had six kills and Sarah Paylor had 17 assists for the Spartans (4-1, 3-0). JV: McConnellsburg, 2-0.

Southern Fulton 3, Everett 2

EVERETT, Pa. - Natasha Bard had 12 kills and 25 digs and Sam Bain had eight kills and 21 digs as Southern Fulton defeated Everett 25-14, 24-26, 20-25, 25-18, 17-15 in a Sideling Hill League match.

Renee Spade had 17 digs, Courtney Trainor had 11 kills and Rebecca Schriever had 16 service points and 31 assists for the Indians (5-2, 2-1). JV: Everett, 2-1.

Goretti 3, Bishop Walsh 2

Gabby Turano had 23 service points, 35 digs and four kills, and Sarah Swope added 18 service points, 13 digs and five kills as St. Maria Goretti defeated Bishop Walsh, 25-28, 25-19, 19-25, 22-25, 15-5.

Catie Breslin had 11 service points and 17 digs, while Alex Penn had 10 service points and 23 digs for Goretti (1-5). Natalie Ferretti added 13 assists and five kills and Courtney Thompson added eight service points and 15 digs.

Broadfording 3, Shalom 0

Rachel Lehman had six service points and five kills, Allison Gift had seven digs and Alexis Witman, Alyssa Rohrer and Monica Harnish had six service points each for Shalom in a 25-22, 25-19, 25-20 loss to Broadfording. JV: Broadfording, 16-25, 25-15, 15-8.

Carroll 3, Shalom 1

Carroll Christian defeated Shalom Christian, 15-25, 27-25, 25-15, 25-15. JV: Shalom, 2-0.


No. 6 Mercersburg 10, St. John's 0

FREDERICK, Md. - Tim Rahauser led Mercersburg Academy with three goals and an assist, while Logan Craig and Robert Nagel had two goals each as the Blue Storm routed St. John's Catholic.

Valentin Quan Miranda, Christopher McClintick and Matt Engle each scored and Joshua Rosenblat had three assists for Mercersburg (2-1). Miranda, Engle, Nagel, Craig, David Strider and Tad Holazapel each had an assist.

Urbana 2, No. 7 North 1

IJAMSVILLE, Md. - Krist Petrossin and Paul Kim each scored, while David Saidi recorded an assist and Chris Vert had seven saves for Urbana.

Ben Crampton scored on a Michael Baer assist and Josh Borland had 15 saves for North (3-2).

FSK 4, Smithsburg 3

SMITHSBURG - Adam Fay, Josh Edwards and Steve Kretzer each scored a goal for Smithsburg, but the Leopards fell to Francis Scott Key in overtime.

Jake Staebler recorded 10 saves for Smithsburg (2-3).

Berkeley Springs 2, St. James 2

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Eric Duckwall and Matt Martin scored, Peter Welch and Josh Wise each had an assist and Matt Sugg had nine saves as Berkeley Springs (4-4-4) tied with St. James.

Gino Rosignano scored twice and Bennett Opitz made eight saves for the Saints.

Clear Spring 3, Goretti 1

CLEAR SPRING - Adam Reid scored three goals to lead Clear Spring over St. Maria Goretti. Andrew Beadle had six saves for the Blazers (2-1-1).

Nick Martin had eight saves and Jeffrey Zielinski scored the only goal for the Gaels.

Heritage 3, Faith 2

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Steven Barthalow had two goals - including the game-winner in double overtime - and an assist, while Cody Butts scored a goal and Philip Thurber had an assist for Heritage Academy (4-2-1, 2-2-1 MDCC). Travis Barthalow made 15 saves.

Chris Apple and Caleb Way had a goal each and Brandon Hoy had nine saves for Faith.

James Buchanan 2, Trinity 1

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Brandon Bard and Cory Zimmerman each scored a goal, Dion Lehman and Zach Bachtell each had an assist and James Nardi made seven saves for James Buchanan.


No. 7 McConnellsburg 5, Chestnut Ridge 3

FISHERTOWN, Pa. - Erin Chafardon scored four goals to lead McConnellsburg over Chestnut Ridge.

Casey Pollock had the other goal and Sam McQuade had eight saves for the Spartans (4-2).

Catoctin 2, South 2

Christine Cantner scored both goals for South Hagerstown, while Brittany Shadrach had 22 saves as the Rebels (1-2-1) played Catoctin to a tie.
