WILLIAMSPORT - The driver in a single-vehicle accident in Williamsport died early this morning, according to a news release from the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
Jeremy Wayne Miner, 23, of 10908 Gaywood Drive, Hagerstown, was pronounced dead at the scene, the release states.
Sheriff's deputies responded to the accident on North Artizan Street in Williamsport at 12:41 a.m., according to sheriff's deputies.
Miner's passenger, Jamie Brooks Hawn, 24, of 9204 Jordan Road, Fairplay, was taken to Washington County Hospital.
A hospital spokeswoman said Hawn was in critical condition this morning.
Deputies who responded to the scene found a black 2006 Hyundai Tiburon lying on a telephone pole guy wire, the release states.
Investigation and eyewitness accounts show that the vehicle was traveling south on North Artizan Street when it crossed the center line into the northbound lane, sheriff's deputies said. The vehicle then crossed back into the southbound lane and off the road, striking a concrete wall. After hitting the wall, the Hyundai continued in the northbound lane and struck a telephone guy wire, according to the release.
