"I see where the city council honored the Hispanic heritage, and it stated it honored and recognized the 42 million Hispanic people who call America home. I wonder if that included the 11, 12 million illegal Hispanics in the U.S."
"I'm just wondering if there's anyone else who finds the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts a particularly unfriendly place. Visited there this afternoon, felt as if I were an intruder, was yelled at 'No, no, no, no' by a security guard when we went to go into a gallery where there was no notice that it was not to be entered. I am really disappointed. I've been a member of the museum for a good number of years. My children have participated in many activities there. It so happens the people there today did not know us and might have treated us as they treat people they don't know. Extremely upsetting and not at all pleasant."
"This is a comment about the county commissioners. What's the point of running for county commissioner, which only makes $30,000 a year, if the person's gonna spend $28,000 just to campaign - and that's just for the primary? How much are they gonna put in for the general? I guess it's all about the money in Washington County."
"I am very pleased to see that in reading the section of (You Said It) that I am seeing more people who are in opposition to President Bush. This is not about patriotism and being anti-American. It's about social justice. Remember this for the next election, because we do need a new president."
"A big thank you to the young lady who held up a big sign saying 'Thanks' to those participating in Boonsboro's 9/11 commemorative parade. I'm told her name is Allison Welty, and she's 12 years old. They say that she made this sign especially to thank those who are involved in protecting our county and state. May I add my 'thank you' to her for her civic pride and concern."
"I'm fed up with hearing the whining and complaining about this war. The people who say we have no business with being in Iraq would be the same people who would blame Bush if these same radical Islamics attacked our country again, because he didn't have the guts to take care of them first. And quit comparing the Iraqi war to Vietnam. There is absolutely no comparison. Our troops in Iraq knew when they joined the military that there was a possibility that they would be expected to go into combat. They were not drafted against their will. The CIA, during the Clinton administration, I feel can take a lot of the blame for 9/11. They had the chance to take out bin Laden and didn't have the guts to do it."
"In reference to the Funkstown caller who said that the previous president, Clinton, didn't get Osama three times. Well, it's been about five years or more, and I don't think Bush has gotten him yet, either, even though 'mission accomplished.' Looks like a good war going in Afghanistan still."
"This is a response to several of the callers in Wednesday night's paper. The one caller said about the Republicans winning the last two elections. They didn't win them - they stole them. Also, they talk about Clinton chasing Monica instead of taking care of business with bin Laden. Well, if Bush wouldn't have been so busy trying to figure out how he could put it to the working class and middle class, he would have been ready for 9/11 and Katrina. I'd sooner he'd be chasing Monica around than messing with the middle class."
"This is to the caller from Sharpsburg saying about 9/11 happening during George Bush's watch. That might be true, but if you've been following the history and if you've watched any of the movies, or any of the commentaries, or even the film 'The Path to 9/11,' even though it was fiction and not a documentary, you would know that the terrorists hit under Clinton's administration three times, not just one. And a couple of them we didn't even know about. So before you start casting stones - even though I agree that George Bush hasn't done much to protect the country, and he says we're safe and we're not - it is not entirely George Bush's fault."
