Bowers leads North past Clear Spring



CLEAR SPRING - Karli Bowers led North Hagerstown with 13 digs, 12 assists and 10 service points, including five aces, as the No. 3 Hubs defeated Clear Spring 25-21, 17-25, 25-18, 25-16 on Thursday.

Hannah Boward had 13 assists and 10 digs, Kate Zimmer had 15 kills and 10 service points and Brooke Powell tallied 19 digs and eight kills for North (4-1). Amelia Plank and Jen Bowlus had 10 digs each while Kelly Toms had six kills and Kierra Nelson added five.

Mandy Jenkins had 12 kills, eight digs, 11 service points and three aces for Clear Spring (1-1). Lindsay Lacy had 13 kills, Emily Pinkham had 11 service points and four aces and Katelyn Blickenstaff had 28 assists.

INWOOD, W.Va. - Courtney Thompson had six service points and seven digs and Alex Penn added six service points for Goretti (0-4, 0-3), which was swept by Musselman 25-11, 25-14, 25-5 in an Apple Valley League game.

CAMP HILL, Pa. - Michelle Negley had 19 digs and five kills, Kortney Eshleman had eight assists and five kills and Julia Stein added five kills as Greencastle swept Trinity, 25-15, 25-14, 25-10.

SCOTLAND, Pa. - Amy Heisey had 21 kills and Ashley Zimmerman had 35 assists and nine service points to lead James Buchanan (4-0, 4-0) in a 25-14, 25-23, 25-8 sweep of Mid-Penn Capital opponent Scotland.

Thomas Johnson 3, Smithsburg 0



SMITHSBURG - Lauren Cline had 13 service points, 13 kills, eight digs and six blocks to lead Thomas Johnson over Smithsburg, 25-18, 25-19, 25-13.

Bethany Springer had 11 service points, eight kills and seven digs, Najjiyya Franklin-Huff had seven kills and six blocks and Melanie Springer added 23 assists for the Patriots (4-0). Smithsburg falls to 0-3.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Sarah Risinger had six service points, including three aces, and eight digs while Ashley Hovermale had 10 service points, three aces and five digs in Berkeley Springs' 25-23, 25-11, 25-16 sweep of Martinsburg.

Sam Zahnow had 14 assists and six service points, Courtney Jones had six kills and four blocks and Kelsey McCoy added six kills for the Indians (5-1).

WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Southern Fulton won its first Sideling Hill League match, sweeping Tussey Mountain, 25-15, 25-9, 25-8.

Christy Hill had 15 service points, three aces and five kills for the Spartans (3-1, 1-1). Courtney Trainor had 11 service points and Natasha Bard had seven service points and five kills.

Grace 3, South 2



Andy Lytle, Pat Salvagno and Nick Bunting each scored as Grace Academy beat South Hagerstown.

Salvagno and Zack Morgan each had an assist for the Knights (3-1-1).

David Stone and Kesi Payne each scored a goal, while Matt Adams had two assists for the Rebels (0-3). Jason David made eight saves.

Smithsburg 1, Walkersville 0



WALKERSVILLE, Md. - Jake Staebler had 11 saves to post his second shutout of the season and Smithsburg (2-1) scored on an own goal to defeat Walkersville.

BRUNSWICK, Md. - Sam Myers scored on an assist from Chris Poet, while Andrew Beadle recorded three saves for Clear Spring (1-2).

McConnellsburg 2, Huntingdon 1



HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Caleb Washabaugh and Evan Mellott each scored unassisted, while Chance Carbaugh made seven saves for McConnellsburg (5-0).




GIRLS SOCCER



No. 5 Clear Spring 2, Brunswick 1



CLEAR SPRING - Sarah Dice had a goal and an assist as Clear Spring outshot Brunswick 17-1 in a victory over the Railroaders.

Alisha Commer also scored for the Blazers (2-1).

Lisa Roland scored on a penalty, kick while Cindy Koblinski made 10 saves for Brunswick.

South 2, St. James 1



Kaitlyn Bosco and Jenna Mannick scored one goal each and Brittany Shadrach had 12 saves for South (1-2) in a win against St. James.

Berkeley Springs 6, Keyser 0



BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Corrie Riffle scored three goals and added an assist in Berkeley Springs' shutout of Keyser on Monday. Rebecca Trump had two goals and an assist, while Jordan Reedy added a goal and Amanda Waltman made four saves.

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Amanda Waltman had nine saves for Berkeley Springs as the Indians (5-3-1) were shut out on Wednesday.
