September 14, 2006

The Twigg Cycle Riders Club held the first of what it intends to make an annual Gerald Gossert Memorial Fundraiser Poker Run during the Twigg Cycle's 75th Anniversary Open House in Hagerstown on July 29.

The resulting donation of $500 was presented recently to Norma Gossert by TCRC President George Burkhardt and Twigg Cycles Sales Manager Jeff Davis.

The donation is to be delivered to the local Ride For Kids in Columbia, Md., on Sept. 24, in honor of the memory of Gerald Gossert.

Gossert was a local motorcycle enthusiast and a club member who died in a motorcycle accident in Georgia in June 2005, club spokeswoman Carole Keyser said Tuesday.

Keyser said the Pediatric Brain Tumor Association, in conjunction with the motorcycling community, founded the Ride for Kids program to provide funds for research into pediatric brain tumors.

"Such is the spirit of giving by motorcyclists that it generates millions of dollars each year for this cause," Keyser said.

She said that donations are still being accepted locally.

The Twigg Cycle Riders Club, open to all makes of motorcycles, meets at Richardson's Restaurant the first Saturday of each month at 8 a.m. for breakfast and a ride.
