Grim defeats Hill in 1C primary

For the Democratic nomination in state delegate Subdistrict 1C, Brian K. Grim defeated Frederick J. Hill on Tuesday, according to complete but unofficial results.

The Democrats were competing for the right to face Republican incumbent LeRoy E. Myers Jr. in the Nov. 7 general election.

Most of Subdistrict 1C lies in Allegany County, but it also includes portions of western Washington County, including Hancock and Clear Spring.

Including all Washington County precincts and all 15 Allegany County precincts, Grim, of South Cumberland, received 1,250 votes. Hill, of Cumberland, received 1,002 votes.

Myers, of Clear Spring, is running for a second four-year term. He did not have a Republican opponent.

The salary for delegates is $43,500.
