September 13, 2006|by ERIN JULIUS

In the primary election for the three open Washington County Orphans Court judge seats, two incumbents and Gloria A. Bastian, 73, were leading in the Republican primary, according to incomplete election totals.

Both candidates running on the Democratic ticket, Joe Faith, 70, and Samuel "Sam" Tubaugh, 77, advance to the general election.

Republicans Joseph W. Eichelberger, 65, and John M. Shriver, 56, are the incumbents.

All three seats for Orphans Court are open for re-election.

Orphans Court Judge Samuel Bayer did not file for re-election.

Orphans Court judges meet twice a week to probate wills, set attorney's fees, settle disputes over estates, and appoint administrators and guardians. They make $7,000 per year.
