When North Hagerstown junior setter Hannah Boward stepped to the service line during the deciding fifth game Monday night, the Hubs trailed the Boonsboro Warriors, 8-7.

Boward came through with eight straight service points as the Hubs sealed the match, 22-25, 25-12, 25-21, 22-25, 15-8.

"I was just hoping that the ball would go over into the court," Boward said. "It was tense, but it was a good game. I knew that it was a win-or-lose situation. We all wanted to win, so we came together and did it as a team. It was a good team win. We have been waiting to play Boonsboro, and I am glad that it ended the way that it did. We motivated each other, which helped us through the end."

Boward had 27 digs, 26 assists and 19 service points.

"I liked how we came back in the last game, after we were down 7-4, to get the win," North coach Megan Crawford said. "We didn't let the ball hit the floor and we got our serves in."

Kate Zimmer had 25 kills, 13 digs, 10 service points and nine blocks for North (3-1), while Brooke Powell had 31 digs and 10 kills and Karli Powers added 15 digs, 14 service points and 12 assists. Jen Bowlus made 21 digs and Amelia Plank added 16 digs in the victory, while Kierra Nelson had seven kills and Hillary Zampelli had eight digs for the Hubs.

"In the second and third games, we played like we know how to play," Crawford said. "I am going to give credit to Boonsboro. They are scrappy and they were all over the floor."

Karley Kaetzel had 17 service points, 11 digs and four aces for Boonsboro (1-2). Tara Garver contributed 22 assists and nine digs, while Jerica Hewett had 10 digs, nine kills and five blocks, Lauren Wood had 12 service points and 11 digs and Brynn Arnone added seven kills for Boonsboro.

"It took us a couple of games to get into a comfortable rotation," Boonsboro coach Christy Faller said. "Once we started to see the hustle in the backcourt, we were able to turn our offense on. We were playing a very talented team. In games like that, you have to make sure that you are doing the little things right. We definitely have a good team. I know that we are going to see that come out."

JV: North, 25-15, 22-25, 15-12.
