Pete Hawbaker celebrates 35 years of service with The Herald-Mail Co. in September.

Hawbaker, the company's building foreman, joined the composing room in 1971 and was promoted to night foreman in that department in 1984. He joined the building staff in 1989, and was named foreman in 1999.

· Also marking milestone anniversaries in September are Jack Hill, newsroom, 15 years; and Sharon Sheffield, Finance & Administration, five years.

· Travis Netz, Andrew Robinson, Tina Mitchell and Jeff Chandler have joined the Packaging & Distribution Department as part-time inserters.

· Michon Hutchins and Justin Harris have joined the Circulation Department as part-time assistant zone managers.

· Bill Taylor has been hired as a part-time security guard in Human Resources.

Eastern Panhandle Home Builders Association

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - James P. Francomano has joined the Eastern Panhandle Home Builders Association as the director of government affairs.

Francomano's focus will be on developing the association's governmental presence and in engaging association members in issues affecting the home-building industry.

Francomano has an undergraduate degree in architecture from Yale University and a law degree from Pepperdine University.

Hagerstown Trust

Cindy Shatzley and Shanda Smith, of Hagerstown Trust, graduated from the Maryland Banking School, a comprehensive three-year program of the Maryland Bankers Association that is held each summer at the University of Maryland University College.

Shatzley is an assistant vice president, branch manager at Hagerstown Trust's Smithsburg office. She has worked for Hagerstown Trust since 1991.

Smith, branch manager of the Maugansville office, has worked for Hagerstown Trust since 1996.

O'Neill Physical Therapy Services

Lorraine O'Neill, physical therapist and owner of O'Neill Physical Therapy Services in Hagerstown, recently completed her doctor of science in physical therapy at the University of Maryland-Baltimore.

She completed her studies with a 4.0 grade-point-average.

MCTC

Correctional Officer Dennis E. Willoughby of the Maryland Correctional Training Center has been named Employee of the Month for September.

Willoughby assisted with obtaining signatures of inmates to ensure time frames were met in the Administrative Remedy Process. He also was instrumental in coordinating and developing the implementation plan for the Gaudenzia Therapeutic community.

Willoughby has been with Maryland Correctional Training Center since December 1992.

Michael J. Skubon

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Paladin announced that Michael J. Skubon has been admitted to the Paladin Registry and was awarded Paladin's Five-Star quality designation.

Planners and advisers must rank in the top 10 percent of their profession to be admitted to the registry.

Skubon is a graduate of Shepherd College in Shepherdstown W.Va., and holds a master's degree in business administration with a concentration in international economics from Mount St. Mary's in Emmitsburg, Md.

Skubon has 20 years of experience in the financial industry and 14 years teaching business and economics classes at Hagerstown Community College, Frostburg State and Wilson College.

He is a licensed securities broker and independent insurance agent with Linsco Private Ledger in Mercersburg. He specializes in broad-based and comprehensive financial planning.

Dr. Evon Barvinchack

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Dr. Evon Barvinchack was elected secretary of the American College of Chiropractic Orthopedists.

Barvinchack has been active with ACCO for 20 years. In 2004, he was presented with the organization's President's Award for his dedication to the specialty of chiropractic.

Angie Covington of Hagerstown was recognized for having high team sales for AtHome America.
