MOOREFIELD, W.Va. - Jesse Dalton scored three touchdowns by three different means in the first half Friday night, leading the Boonsboro Warriors to a 39-14 season-opening victory over Moorefield.

Dalton opened the scoring with a 4-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Dalton returned an interception 72 yards for another score, then added a 30-yard fumble return for a score as the Warriors led 27-0 at halftime.

Ryan McLean and Kyle Kane each ran for a touchdown and Matt Wetzel caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from John Shobe for the Warriors (1-0).

Cameron Staples scored on a 30-yard interception return for the Yellow Jackets (0-3), who have lost 14 straight games.

Smithsburg 34, Westmar 18

LONACONING, Md. - Chad Brown ran for 242 yards on 21 carries, including touchdown runs of 71 and 54 yards in the first quarter, as Smithsburg cruised to a season-opening victory over Westmar.


Kevin Kocsis and Bobby Smith each added a touchdown run as Smithsburg outrushed the Wildcats, 355-110.

Brian Faulders threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Joey Cacciola for the Leopards.

Jeremy Shingler had two touchdown passes and a touchdown run for Westmar.

Northern Garrett 28, Clear Spring 0

ACCIDENT, Md. - Blair Silbaugh rushed for two touchdowns, including a 71-yard score, to lead Northern Garrett to a shutout victory over Clear Spring in the season opener for both teams.

Brett Mangus caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from Garrett Gulledge, while Corey Carr added a rushing touchdown and a field goal for the Huskies (1-0), who outgained the Blazers, 427-102.

Palmyra 21, Greencastle 14

PALMYRA, Pa. - Greencastle's Conrad Myers and Adam Ritchey ran for first-half touchdowns, but Palmyra scored 14 unanswered points to end the game and knock off the Blue Devils.

Myers scored from 45 yards out in the first quarter and Adam Ritchey added a 46-yard scoring run in the second quarter to help the Blue Devils (1-1) to a 14-7 halftime lead.

But Palmyra (1-1) held Greencastle scoreless in the second half and Derek Fackler rushed for two touchdowns to give the Panthers the lead for good. Fackler finished with 120 yards on the ground.

Greencastle quarterback Adam Butts was intercepted three times.

West Perry 41, Waynesboro 20

ELLIOTSBURG, Pa. - Ibrahim Smith had a combined 275 offensive yards - 192 rushing - and threw two touchdown passes to Ben Snyder as West Perry scored 29 third-quarter points in a win over Waynesboro.

Waynesboro's Alex Barone threw for 112 yards, including two touchdown passes to Devin Sims, while Tim Rowland scored on a 58-yard run for the Indians (0-2).

Bruce McKown scored on two 1-yard runs, while Jake Dunkelberger added a rushing touchdown and Kevin Jones returned a punt for another score for West Perry (2-0).
