Hardin: I'm running because I care about this community

September 09, 2006|by Herb Hardin/Hagerstown

My name is J. Herbert Hardin, and I'm running for the office of Washington County Commissioner. I have resided in Washington County for 42 years, and five generations of my family have lived in Western Maryland.

I have spent my entire career in public service as a high school principal, vice principal, teacher, athletic director and coach. After retirement, I was elected to the Washington County Board of Education where I served as board president in 2000-2001. The last four years, I have proudly served on the North Hagerstown High School Boosters' Stadium Committee.

Throughout my career, my commitment to fairness, honesty, firmness, organization and caring have fostered leadership and relationship skills which will prove invaluable as a County Commissioner.

Washington County is a community that I care about and which I want to continue to serve!
