Boonsboro Warriors at Moorefield Yellow Jackets (0-2)

When: Today, 7 p.m.

Series: Boonsboro leads, 1-0.

Last meeting: 2005 - Boonsboro, 40-13.

Last week: This is the season opener for the Warriors. ... The Yellow Jackets lost 40-20 to Keyser on Tuesday.

Notes: The Warriors are coming off an 8-3 season in which they won the MVAL Antietam title and earned the No. 3 seed in the Maryland Class 1A West playoffs. ... The Warriors lost to Beall in the first round of the playoffs, 29-7. ... The league title was the first for the Warriors since they shared the MVAL crown with Middletown in 1994. Their last outright title was in 1993. ... Warriors coach Clayton Anders, entering his 22nd year at Boonsboro, is one loss away from his 100th. His teams have won 120 games. ... The Yellow Jackets' game against Keyser was originally scheduled for last Friday, but was pushed back because of Tropical Storm Ernesto. ... The Yellow Jackets have lost 13 straight games, dating back to the 2004 playoffs. ... Moorefield alum Doug Boswell is in his first season as the school's head coach. He coached the last 13 seasons at St. Albans in Washington.

Clear Spring Blazers at Northern Garrett Huskies

Series: Northern Garrett leads, 2-0

Last meeting: 2005 - Northern Garrett, 47-6.

Last week: This is the season opener for both teams.

Notes: The Blazers went 1-9 last season, their second as a varsity program. They enter this season on an eight-game losing streak. ... The Blazers did not score in their final 14 quarters last season. ... The Blazers return eight starters on each side of the ball. ... The Huskies were 7-2 last season and finished .08 points out of the 1A West playoffs. The teams had one common opponent last season. The Blazers beat Westmar, 41-28; The Huskies beat Westmar, 48-0.

Liberty Lions at North Hagerstown Hubs

When: Today, 7 p.m. at School Stadium.

Series: North Hagerstown leads, 5-2.

Last meeting: 2005 - North Hagerstown, 38-34.

Last week: This is the season opener for both teams.

Notes: The Hubs have won the last four games in the series, which dates back to 1981, when both teams were members of the Tri-State League. Last year's meeting was the first since 1986. The Lions went 2-8 last year. They enter the season on a four-game losing streak. The Hubs went 5-5 last season after two straight years in the postseason. ... The Hubs return six offensive starters, including QB Logan Kelso, who threw for 1,005 yards and 15 TDs last season. The Hubs also added Marcellus Sumlin, who transferred from South Hagerstown last spring. Sumlin, who was the Rebels' starting QB last year, likely will play RB for the Hubs. The Hubs' new home field, Mike Callas Stadium, is still under construction. The hope is the stadium will be completed by midseason. In the meantime, the Hubs will continue to play their home games at School Stadium, on the South Hagerstown campus.

Smithsburg Leopards at Westmar Wildcats

When: Today, 7 p.m.

Series: First meeting.

Last week: This is the season opener for both teams.

Notes: The Leopards finished 3-7 last season after two straight years in the postseason. They lost their first five games against a tough schedule before rebounding to win three of their last five. The Leopards return four starters on each side of the ball, but most notable is the loss of RB Justin Thompson to graduation. Thompson was the Leopards' leading rusher and scorer the last two seasons. The Wildcats went 2-6 last season. The teams played one common opponent last season. The Leopards beat Clear Spring, 54-0; the Wildcats lost to the Blazers, 41-28.

South Hagerstown Rebels at Walkersville Lions

When: Today, 7 p.m.

Series: Walkersville leads, 12-5.

Last meeting: 2005 - Walkersville, 26-7.

Last week: This is the season opener for both teams.

Notes: The Rebels have won three of the last five games in the series. ... The Rebels are coming off a 1-9 season, their worst finish since they went 0-10 in 1999. ... The Rebels enter the game on a five-game losing streak. ... The Rebels return five starters on offense, led by senior RB Tony Bender, the team's leading rusher last season. ... The Lions also are coming off a 1-9 season, their only victory coming in the opener against South Hagerstown. ... The Lions averaged 25.7 points per game in their first three games last season, but only 8.4 per game in the final seven. ... The Lions are without QB Ryan Nusbaum, who threw for 1,540 yards and 11 TDs last season. Nusbaum was injured in a car accident in the offseason.

Hancock Panthers at Williamsport Wildcats

When: Today, 7 p.m.

Series: Williamsport leads, 4-1.

Last meeting: 2005 - Williamsport, 26-0.

Last week: This is the season opener for both teams.
