Ballet auditions slated for 'The Nutcracker'

Auditions for Potomac Classical Youth Ballet Company's annual production of "The Nutcracker" will be Sunday, Sept. 10, from 1:30 to 4:45 p.m. at The City Ballet School at 14 N. Potomac St. in the Elizabeth Hager Center in Hagerstown.

Performances of "The Nutcracker" will be at The Maryland Theatre on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday Dec. 10, at 3 p.m.

Dancers must be present for the entire block of time scheduled for their age group. These are not individual walk-in auditions. More than 80 dancers will be needed for this production. All children who wish to audition must currently be studying ballet. Dancers are needed for children in the party scene, big and little mice, soldiers, snowflakes, Waltz of the Flowers, big dolls, cookies, angels, polichinelles and the character dances in Act 2.

· Ages 12 and older - 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. (arrive by 1:15 p.m.)


· Ages 8 to 11 - 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. (arrive by 2:30 p.m.)

· Ages 5 to 7 - 4 to 4:45 p.m. (arrive by 3:45 p.m.)

(Birthdate must be on or before Sept. 1, 2001)

All children wishing to audition must be accompanied by an adult and arrive in proper dance attire. There is no audition fee. Be prepared to offer the following information: child's height, weight, and dress, shirt and pants sizes.
