Annual 9/11 parade scheduled for Monday

BOONSBORO - A parade to honor the memory of fire, rescue and law enforcement personnel who lost their lives in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks will be held Monday at 7 p.m.

The men and women who currently are serving their country or who have lost their lives in the military also will be honored during the parade.

The parade route will be eastbound along Main Street (Alternate U.S. 40) to the intersection with Md. 67.

Held every year since 2002, the parade is sponsored by First Hose Co. of Boonsboro, Boonsboro Station 6 and Rohrersville Substation 8.

Mount Nebo youth to host spaghetti dinner

BOONSBORO - The youth of Mount Nebo United Methodist Church will host a spaghetti dinner Saturday, Sept. 23, from 3 to 7 p.m. in the social room.


The menu will feature Rocco's spaghetti sauce (with or without meat), bread, salad and drinks. There also will be a bake sale table.

Carryout and delivery in the Boonsboro area also will be available. To place a delivery order, call the church during the dinner at 301-432-8741.

Tickets for the dinner cost $5 for adults and $3 for ages 5 to 11. Ages 4 and younger will be admitted free.

Proceeds will benefit Mount Nebo Youth Ministries and Missions. The church is at 134 S. Main St.

Fahrney-Keedy to host yard, food, bake sale

BOONSBORO - The Fahrney-Keedy Home and Village Auxiliary will hold a yard sale, food and bake sale on Saturday.

The yard sale begins at 9 a.m., the bake sale at 10 a.m. and the quilt auction at 1 p.m.

Soup and sandwiches also will be available.
