Woman injured after canoe capsizes

HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - A woman was flown to Winchester (Va.) Medical Center for treatment of a possible broken leg after a canoe she was riding in capsized Monday on the Shenandoah River, police said.

The canoe capsized in rough water near the U.S. 340 bridge about 6:39 p.m., Harpers Ferry Police Chief Donald Buracker said.

The woman was riding in the canoe with her father and sister, Buracker said.

Three injured in Pa. single-vehicle crash

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - A single-vehicle crash Saturday morning on Interstate 70 in Brush Creek Township injured three passengers in a 2005 Honda, according to a press release from Pennsylvania State Police.

The driver, Praveen Kumar Bolarum, 38, of 621 Tivoli Road in Frederick, Md., and a 2-year-old child in a child safety seat were uninjured, according to the release.


Trooper Kenneth Falkosky said Bolarum was westbound Saturday at 8:02 a.m. when he crossed into the left lane and struck an embankment, causing the vehicle to roll over back into the left lane.

Passengers Madhaui Sangem, 37, Leelavati Sangem, age unknown, and Rami Sangem, also age unknown, of Fort Wayne, Ind., were transported to Altoona (Pa.) Regional Hospital, according to the release.

A nursing supervisor said Monday afternoon all three patients were in fair condition.

Man wanted for parole violation jailed

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A man stopped for allegedly traveling 96 mph on Interstate 81 early Sunday was jailed in Franklin County Prison for a parole violation, according to a press release from Pennsylvania State Police.

Terry Lynn McNabb II, 32, of Fayetteville, Pa., was pulled over in Greene Township at 2:17 a.m. The odor of alcohol on his breath prompted a charge of driving under the influence, according to the release.

After allegedly providing false identification to police, McNabb was found to be wanted in Maryland for a parole violation, according to the release.
