You Said It

"Humans have been killing each other in the name of God for millennia (that's thousands of years ). Terrorism is not the fault of Bush (both of them), Clinton, Reagan or Carter. Congress has the constitutional right to pass laws the president can either sign or veto. Most humans do not want their children to live in a world full of pain and suffering. Other than Native Americans, we're all 'immigrants.' But then, how many generations must pass before you're considered a native? Our government is based on a representative republic democratic model, therefore, vote! The U.S. Constitution has not been amended to allow noncitizens the right to vote. Stop being a victim and take responsibility for your own actions."

"I've been reading in your column many times last week about it doesn't matter what you wear to church. To my version, that's wrong. When you walk into the house of the Lord, you should go with respect in your heart. When these young people or even adults go in with shorts on and T-shirts and flip-flops, I think it's disgraceful. I do not think parents should allow it."

"Because there is little real baseball or football in a 3 1/2- to four-hour game, and because some fans have very poor seats, and some keep walking back and forth and don't appear to be watching, I have come to the conclusion the reason a good many people attend the games is just to be there."

"The Katrina anniversary now passed us. I am again aware of how narrow-minded people's point of view is. Of course, this happens when you only get your news from the TV and don't bother to find out the rest of reality. New Orleans, as hard-hit and as shameful as it was handled, still pales in comparison to the devastation of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and surrounding areas. Having seen it for myself, and choosing to go beyond my remote control, I have seen with my eyes that those people have nothing left - not even trees. Insurance companies and the government are not helping many of them. A year later, there are still fields where the infrastructure and beautiful homes once stood. It really angers me to only see the media in New Orleans. Please don't forget that there are others suffering silently, and please join a group to aid those out of the media spotlight."

"I'd like to know why, in this sick society of ours, that people find it so funny when a person has a hearing problem. Would you also laugh at somebody that had a leg cut off?"

"This is to the Mail Caller who said I should get my story straight. The fact is, Saddam Hussein played a cat-and-mouse game with the U.N. inspectors. He knew where they were going, and he would move the WMDs before they got there. Of course, Saddam Hussein had WMDs. He used them against the Kurds in the north. He slaughtered men, women and children with chemical warfare. This country's a lot safer because the Republicans and Bush have been in power for the last eight years."

"This call is in regards to the person who called in and wanted to know why the veterinarians in this area did not open their hearts and take care of people's pets for free. A vet goes to school far longer than a medical doctor, and education is not cheap. If he took care of every animal for free, then he would be out of business. If a person cannot afford a pet, they shouldn't get one. I've never seen so many people that want freebies and handouts in my entire life. "

"I see in the paper where somebody is saying about the political signs in the fields and roadways. You also have signs for people wanting to buy your house if you're in foreclosure, people advertising for their businesses ... come on, people, they're trying to put a fight against memorials on the highways. Pick up all your signs and put them away. Find a different way to advertise. There's a paper, there's a TV. Send out mailings every month just like everybody else does. Get your signs off the roadway."

"I'm a patient of the Community Free Clinic, and the clinic needs to have more patient donations. I sit in the lobby and I rarely see people put money in our donation box. Please give money to the Community Free Clinic."

"For a newspaper that's supposedly slanted with a liberal bias, there seems to be an inordinate amount of right-wing callers who love Bush, thump their Bibles and think that our war in Iraq is gonna keep us safe from terrorists. I have news for you: I don't think we're going to be safe for very long."
