WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Waynesboro lost two fumbles in the first quarter to help Susquehanna Township build a 28-0 lead and cruise to a season-opening 42-6 victory over the Indians Monday afternoon.

Waynesboro (0-1) had four turnovers. Quarterbacks Alex Barone and Devin Sims each threw an interception.

Barone connected on just 3 of 12 passes, but found Sims for a 58-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Barone also intercepted a pass from Susquehanna's Ray Wagner, who finished 13-for-18 with three touchdowns (one rushing).

Gabe Oliver scored on touchdown runs of 7, 16 and 19 yards for Susquehanna (1-0).

Sherando 21, Jefferson 14

SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. - Ryland Newman scored a 1-yard touchdown and Dewey McDonald returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown, but Jefferson fell to Sherando (Va.) on Monday afternoon.

McDonald's kickoff return opened the second half and gave the Cougars (1-1) a 14-13 lead. Sherando answered later in the third quarter when Derek Crosen caught his second touchdown of the game from Ross Metheny to give the Warriors (1-0) the lead for good.



Musselman wins tourney

NEW CUMBERLAND, W.Va. - Musselman won the Oak Glen Mountaineer Tournament on Saturday.

The Applemen defeated Oak Glen 25-10, 25-19 in the semifinal match, then defeated Parkersburg 25-10, 25-18 in the championship match.

Chelsea Wheaton led the Applemen with 109 assists, 41 service points and 12 aces on the day. Megan Holmes had 41 service points, 28 kills and eight aces, Alyse Custer had 53 kills and eight blocks and Stephanie Wood had 33 kills and 14 blocks.
