The Hagerstown Public Works Department will hang banners announcing the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts.

The Festival for the Arts on Saturday, Sept. 16, kicks off a yearlong celebration of the museum's 75 years of service to the community.

The festival will be on the museum grounds in City Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

"Everyone should come and join in the activities," said Tom Riford, president of the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

There will be free trolley rides, arts and craft vendors, face painting, a kids' printmaking center, caricatures by Kent Roberts, self-portraits by Allison Weaver, "My Name" Art Center, a jewelry-making center and free balloons.

Other artists will include Mike Gouker and Robert Wantz.

"This is an exciting event, and a special anniversary for everyone," said Museum Director Joe Ruzicka. "This will be a terrific celebration for our community."
