Walk/run registration deadline nears

Dr. Ralph Salvagno and Dr. Roberta Rothen of the Center for Joint Surgery & Sports Medicine at Robinwood Medical Center are celebrating the practice's 10 year anniversary with a walk/run at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at the Robinwood Medical Campus-yellow entrance. For each registered participant, $10 will be donated to the Western Maryland Arthritis Foundation. Each registered participant also will receive a T-shirt. The walk/run is open to the community for all ages. Registration deadline is Monday, Sept. 11.

Strong Women program information

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Penn State Cooperative Extension will conduct the StrongWomen Program in Franklin County. The six-week program is geared for middle-aged to older women. Participants will meet two times a week for one hour sessions. The program was developed to help women increase their strength, bone density, balance and energy and help them look and feel better. Participants must provide their own hand weights and ankle weights. A free informational meeting will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, at Church of the Brethren, 260 S. Training for nurses, case managers

Hagerstown Community College Center for Continuing Education offers a training program for registered nurse case managers/delagating nurses in the assisted living environment. The 16-hour training course is offered in response to regulations that state all case managers/delegating nurses must take a MDBON-approved training course to work in assisted living facilities.

Classes will meet from 8 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Fridays, Sept. 8 and 15, at HCC Valley Mall Center. Lynne Smigelski, executive director of Broadmore Assisted Living Facility in Hagerstown, will be the instructor.

Autism awareness fair is Sept. 16

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - An autism awareness fair will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at Keystone Health Center, 820 Fifth Ave.

The fair is open to autistic individuals and their families, friends, and care providers.
