Max Ramirez and Roman Pena each had two hits and an RBI and James Deters pitched seven strong innings Thursday as Lake County prevented a four-game sweep by Hagerstown, beating the Suns 2-1 in front of a crowd of 2,787 at Municipal Stadium.

The teams concluded their season series with 14 wins apiece.

Deters (12-9) scattered six hits, and the only run he allowed was unearned. He had two strikeouts and no walks. Matt Loberg pitched two perfect innings for his third save.

The Captains took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on Ramirez's RBI single off Suns starter Josh Stinson.

Hagerstown tied the game in the third. With two outs, Jonel Pacheco reached second on shortstop Niuman Romero's fielding error and scored on a single by Nick Evans.

Lake County took the lead in the seventh against Suns reliever Steven Cheney (0-1), who took over for Stinson in the sixth. Jose Chavez hit a two-out bunt single, took second on catcher Rafael Arroyo's throwing error and scored on a single by Pena.

Evans finished with two of the Suns' six hits, including a double.

Chavez also had two hits for the Captains, who finished with seven.

Lake County first baseman P.J. Hiser, a Hagers-town native, went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.
