August 28, 2006

A former Western Maryland Children's Center employee who was accused of assaulting a teenager at the Roxbury Road youth detention facility appeared in Washington County Circuit Court last week.

Christopher Todd Henderson was charged with one count of second-degree assault, according to court documents. He was indicted in late July in connection with the alleged May 6 incident.

During Henderson's initial appearance in court Thursday, he said he received a copy of the charges against him and was advised of his right to have a lawyer represent him by Circuit Judge Donald E. Beachley.

Beachley said Henderson could face a maximum of 10 years in prison and a $2,500 fine.

Henderson said since his indictment, he has moved to another residence in Baltimore. At the time he was charged, his address was listed as 1003 N. Gay St. in Baltimore.
