Shepherd University to sponsor trip to Europe

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - The deadline for the Shepherd University Department of English and Modern Languages British Literature and Prominence of Place travel abroad study tour is Friday, Sept. 1. A $500 deposit must be received by this date. The public is welcome.

The tour will take place Thursday, March 15, to Monday, March 26, 2007. Participants will travel through Switzerland and Italy to the places that inspired Voltaire, Rousseau, George Sand, the Brownings, and Arthur Conan Doyle.

The cost of the tour ranges from $2,099 to $2,399 depending on the number of travelers. Round-trip airfare, land travel, hotels, breakfast and dinner, excursions and cultural admissions including Lake Geneva Boat Cruise, Chillon Castle, Uffize Gallery, Picolomini Library, Colosseum, Forum, Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel and Keats-Shelley Museum are included in the price of the trip.

Students can receive three hours of credit for the travel tour and practicum (ENGL 431) and three hours of credit for the course, British Literature and the Prominence of Place, Literary Expatriates (ENGL 430).
