Hello! Well, only 2 more days until the kids head back to school - I hope you're ready at your house.

No matter how many school supplies we get before the big day gets here, we always have to go get even more.

And be ready for all those papers they send home - get your wrists warmed up!

Looking way ahead

Yes, I know it's still early but it'll be here before you know it - The Kris Kringle craft and gift show is once again moving back to the Clarion Hotel and Convention Centers Grand Ballroom at 901 Dual Highway this year.

Mark your calendar now for Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 18th and 19th from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day.

Free admission. Raffle proceeds will be donated to charity.

Augustoberfest

Augustoberfest is coming Saturday Aug. 26th from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, the 27th, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in downtown Hagers-town.

There'll be festivites in the tradition of a Bavarian celebration.

A show with pull

There'll be an antique tractor show on Aug. 26th and 27th, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Washington County Agricultural Education center.

Food and loads of fun: flea market, crafts, kiddy tractor pull, bake auction, barrel rides, antique tractor pull, garden tractor pull and wagon rides.

Lincolnshire event

Lincolnshire Elementary School will be holding a open house/meet the teacher night on Monday Aug. 21st, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

All new and returning students are invited to attend.

A hole-y event

Christ's Reformed Church in Hagerstown will be holding its 2nd Annual Golf Tournament on Friday, Aug. 25 at Black Rock Golf Course with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.

Admission is $75 per player or $260 per foursome. The price includes a catered meal after the tournament.

All proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Aspiring to Serve Community Center, which houses Commission on Aging, WIC, Potomac Case Management and REACH.

Applications for playing and sponsorship of holes can be obtained by calling the Church at 301-733-4144 or Bill Shank at 301-797-1143.

Another hole-y one

Hagerstown Childrens Village of Washington County, Inc. will host its 12th annual Keep our Kids Safe Four-Man Scramble Golf Classic on Friday, Sept. 8th, at Black Rock Golf Course.

Putting contest begins at 11 a.m.; shotgun start at 12 noon. Dinner will follow the tournament.

Entry fee is $95 per person. Corporate sponsor packages are available. Hole and cart sponsors can also support the event.

Midas Muffler of Hagers-town is the tournament sponsor. Volvo Powertrain North America is lead sponsor, with Douglas Motors of Hancock is sponsoring the hole-in-one prize car.

Register by calling Children's Village at 301-733-4443. All proceeds benefit the Children's Village life-safety education program.

Children's Village of Washington County, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing free life-safety education to elementary school children in Washington County.

School TV reunion

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of educational television in Washington County schools, a reunion is planned for Sept. 26 for all former employees of the T-V Center.
