Blood donors sought to boost dwindling supply

Red Cross officials are asking the public to visit upcoming blood drives in their communities over the next several days to help stabilize dwindling inventories of blood before the Labor Day weekend.

Labor Day weekend is one of the busiest travel periods of the year. With more automobile travelers, there is the potential for more accidents and injuries requiring blood or blood products, the Red Cross said in a prepared release.

Following is a list of upcoming blood drives:


· Brook Lane gym, 13218 Brook Lane Drive, Hagers-town, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

· Red Cross Blood Donor Center, 1131 Conrad Court, Hagerstown, 11 a.m. to 5 p .m.


· Western Maryland Hospital Center, 1500 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

· Red Cross Blood Donor Center, 1131 Conrad Court, Hagerstown, noon to 6 p.m.

· Holiday Inn, 301 Foxcroft Ave., Martinsburg, W.Va., noon to 6 p.m.



· Washington County Administrative Annex, 80 W. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

· Outlook Pointe, 129 Walnut Bottom Road, Shippensburg, Pa., 1 to 7 p.m.

· Presbyterian Faith Center, 12957 Buck Valley Road, Warfordsburg, Pa., 1 to 7 p.m.


· Leetown United Methodist Church, 11133 Leetown Road, Kearneysville, W.Va., 2 to 7 p.m.

· Paw Paw Fire Hall, Moser Avenue, Paw Paw, W.Va., 1 to 6 p.m.
