Four-year old Payton Alexis Bowers, daughter of Bryan and Toni Bowers of Chambersburg, Pa., was a weekly winner in the age 4 and up division of a cutest baby photo contest at Valley Mall on Aug. 7.

It was the third straight year she has won in the local contest, conducted by The Picture People portrait studio.

Each week over seven weeks, three age group winners were to be selected at the Valley Mall studio. A store winner, to be chosen from the overall weekly winners, will compete in The Picture People's annual contest.

"Wal-Mart has become a true friend to our club members," said Buck Browning, director of operations for the Boys & Girls Club. "Associates from the stores in our region have helped us with activities, fundraising, and expanding our service area. They are amazing."

As part of Wal-Mart Day at the Boys & Girls Club, managers were teamed up with Boys & Girls Club members as they worked through various stations. At each station, the managers and children would participate in activities such as kite building, putt-putt golf, spelling challenges, basketball and Internet safety games.

"Our staff loves to be part of the community and getting out to participate in a day like this is awesome," said Tim Middleton, regional manager for Wal-Mart. "We have stores from Germantown all the way to Oakland in our area working to help children and this partnership has been very rewarding to all involved."

The financial contribution from Wal-Mart was generated through several fundraising events including hot dog sales at the store, grants, special contributions from associates, and through outreach events. The funds will be used to continue the Boys & Girls Club mission of youth development.
