From the principal

Q. What are the biggest challenges this year?

A. WHS is facing an increase in student population beyond the enrollment projections. We have had students come from Texas, Alabama, Florida, New York, and from Montgomery and Frederick counties. The increase in new houses is adding to the increase in enrollment and the diversity of the student population.

Q. What are your goals for the school year?

A. WHS will continue to work toward meeting the academic demands of No Child Left Behind to meet Annual Yearly Progress. To accomplish this task, our staff development effort will focus on improving classroom instruction and increasing our expectations for high achievement.

Q. What will help ensure a successful school year?

A. This summer we have several maintenance projects under way, the largest project being phase one of our asbestos abatement program. We hope to have all projects completed in time for the students' return.

Q. What message would you like to send as the school year begins?

A. The supportive staff at WHS encourages all parents to stay involved in their children's educational process. We ask them to communicate frequently with our staff and have high expectations for achievement.

Q. What special projects will occur during the school year?

A. WHS will be expanding its Diversity Council and increasing its role in the school program. We will be expanding our health services to our students at WHS by the inclusion of the Wellness program
