Auditions for Chorale



SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Shepherd University's Masterworks Chorale will hold auditions for the new season. Auditions are open to everyone and consist of vocal exercises.

The chorale practices are at 7:30 p.m. Mondays in Shepherdstown. Concerts for the upcoming season will be Sunday, Nov. 12; Saturday, Dec. 2; Sunday, Dec. 3; and Sunday, May 6, 2007.

Those interested in joining should attend the group's rehearsal at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, in the rehearsal hall of Frank Center. Sign-ups for auditions will be available at that rehearsal. Call Erik Reid Jones at 304-876-5371 or e-mail ejones04@shepherd.edu.

'Cinderella' auditions



Potomac Playmakers will hold auditions for Rodgers & Hammerstein's "Cinderella," directed by Ruth Ridenour, on Friday, Aug. 25. Performers are needed to fill assorted roles and musical ensemble. Those auditioning should prepare a show tune. No a cappella auditions. Production dates are in mid-November. 7:30 p.m. Women's Club auditorium, 31 S. Prospect St., Hagerstown. Call 717-977-0677.

Grants available in Frederick



FREDERICK, Md. - Grant funding is now available for arts-related activities in Frederick County through the Frederick Arts Council. Community Arts Development grants support local nonprofit arts organizations as well as community groups that present arts programming for the public.

Complete grant applications must be returned by 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31.

The grant application is available on the Council's Web site at www.frederickarts council.org. Organizations interested in receiving a hard copy can contact FAC Executive Director Shuan Butcher at 301-662-4190 or stop by the Cultural Arts Center, 15 W. Patrick St. in downtown Frederick.

New applicants are encouraged to contact the Frederick Arts Council to arrange a grant orientation session. In addition, representatives from the Frederick Arts Council are available to answer questions regarding the application or application process as well.

Museum to reopen Saturday



Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in Hagerstown is closed to make repairs and upgrades to the building. The museum offices are open during this time. The museum galleries will reopen Saturday, Aug. 26.
