Q. What are the biggest challenges this year?

A. School-system growth and its impact upon the Fairview program will be one of the challenges this year. As the system has grown, it is becoming more difficult to schedule every fifth-grader to attend due to limited space for sleeping. Group size also impacts the hands-on nature of the activities the students participate in during their stay at Fairview for the fifth-grade program and the day-trip program, which involves all grade levels in the school system.

Q. What are your goals for the school year?

A. Our goals for the year are to prepare students to be lifelong learners, and to develop a sense of empowerment and awe about the world around them, and their ability to make positive changes occur.

Q. What will help ensure a successful school year?

A. We are seeking the involvement of the entire Washington County community in the Fairview program.

Q. What message would you like to send as the school year begins?

A. We can't wait to see you at Fairview.

Q. What special projects will occur during the school year?

A. Open house, Aug 26; Bike hike, Oct. 14; Maple Sugar Festival, Feb. 24, 2007; Fairview Kite Festival, March 17; and the development of more Green Schools in Washington County.
