The Johnsons

Joe and Catherine Johnson celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a surprise party in their honor Sunday, Aug. 13, 2005, at Otterbein United Methodist Church in Hagerstown. More than 100 friends and family attended from as far away as Arizona and Texas. The event was hosted by their children and spouses JoEllen and Larry Wisherd, Trina Johnson and Jay and Joyce Johnson.

The Johnsons were married Aug. 12, 1955, at St. Paul's Evangelical United Brethren Church (now Otterbein United Methodist Church), by the Rev. Joseph Yeakle, who gave the blessing at the anniversary party.

Mrs. Johnson retired from the Washington County Board of Education where she was employed as a crossing guard for 32 years.

Mr. Johnson retired from Pangborn Corp. after 45 years of service.

They have three children and five grandchildren.

The McCoys

Bob and Ethel McCoy of Maugansville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, June 24, 2006, at the Williamsport Community building at an open house hosted by their daughters and spouses, Ginger and Lou Stevens of Williamsport, Pam and Lou Setting of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Crystal and Bob Kline of Hagerstown.


The McCoys were married June 23, 1956, in Hagers-town.

The McCoys, now retired, were owners of McCoy's Body Shop which was on Salem Avenue in Hagers-town.

They have 11 grandchildren.
