Lakewood blanks Suns

August 19, 2006

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Three Lakewood pitchers combined to hold Hagerstown hitless over the final six innings Friday night as the BlueClaws blanked the Suns, 4-0.

Carlos Carrasco (10-6) picked up the win, allowing three hits - all singles - while walking three and striking out eight in his seven innings.

Lou Marson's RBI single off Suns starter Jeramy Simmons (1-3) gave Lakewood a 1-0 lead in the second. The BlueClaws added single runs in the third, fourth and eighth.

Hagerstown advanced only one runner past first base as Rafael Arroyo was hit by a pitch and Matt Anderson followed with a walk with one out in the seventh. But Carrasco struck out Will Vogl and got Sean Henry to pop out to end the threat.
