Claws hold Suns

August 16, 2006

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The Hagerstown Suns had a deal that the Lakewood BlueClaws couldn't refuse.

Force one error, get a rally.

The Suns committed two crucial fielding errors to prolong innings, helping the BlueClaws to all the run support they needed Tuesday for a 7-5 victory.

Shortstop Jose Castro committed an error on a grounder which could have ended the first inning, resulting in an early 4-0 Lakewood lead.

Second baseman Ryan Coultas misplayed a bases-loaded grounder in the sixth to ignite a three-run rally.

Hagerstown starter Bobby Parnell fell victim to another rough start by the Suns, allowing the four runs (three earned) in five innings for the loss.

The Suns tried to comeback with three runs in the fifth on a three-run double by Sean Henry to move within 4-3. Lakewood answered with their three runs in the sixth.

Hagerstown made one last run at Lakewood in the ninth, scoring twice.
