Candidates forums set for tonight, Thursday

Hagerstown Community College is the site of local candidates forums tonight and Thursday night.

Tonight, candidates for Washington County Commissioners will participate. Twenty-four candidates - 12 Republicans and 12 Democrats - are running for five seats on the commission.

On Thursday night, candidates for the offices of Washington County Board of Education, sheriff, state's attorney and House of Delegates Subdistrict 2C will participate.

The forums will begin at 7 p.m. each night at Kepler Theater.

The forums are sponsored by The Herald-Mail Co., The League of Women Voters of Washington County, Hagers-town Community College and Antietam Cable.


The forums will be broadcast live both nights on channel 99 on Antietam Cable.

The forums also will be rebroadcast on the following dates and times:

Wednesday's forum with county commissioners candidates will air at 8 p.m. on channel 19 on Thursday, Aug. 24; Tuesday, Aug. 29; and Tuesday, Sept. 5.

Thursday's forum with board of education, sheriff, state's attorney and delegate candidates will air at 8 p.m. on channel 19 on Friday, Aug. 25; Thursday, Aug. 31; and Thursday, Sept. 7.

Both forums will air back-to-back on Monday, Sept. 11, beginning at 7 p.m.
