Around North Hagerstown

August 15, 2006

So long, summertime!

Where did summer go this year? It seems like just yesterday that the kids got out of school!

While summer flies by in the blink of an eye, we were lucky enough to cram quite a bit of fun into our summer. Our family enjoyed boating on the Chesapeake Bay and Lake Winnipesaukee, N.H., visiting Grandma and Grandpa Schmidt in North East, Md.; swimming at Northwood, in the Atlantic Ocean off the Maine coast, and Lake Winnipesaukee, N.H.; eating boatloads of fresh seafood during our two-week jaunt to New Hampshire's Lake region; fishing; attending volleyball camp at the YMCA; and sleeping well beyond our usual awakening time of 6 a.m. - without the disruptive ringing of our annoying alarm clocks.

I hope you and your family had a chance to enjoy summer's fleeting weeks!

I'd like to wish our educators, teachers and administrators a wonderful school year as they head back to the classrooms this week. As for the students, I hope you enjoy this last full week of summer freedom and have a great school year!
