The issue: Six people have been charged in the March 12 rape and murders at a home in Mahmoudiya, south of Baghdad. One, Pfc. Jesse V. Spielman, graduated from Chambersburg (Pa.) Area Senior High School in 2002.

The others are Spc. James P. Barker, Sgt. Paul E. Cortez, Pfc. Bryan L. Howard, former Pfc. Steven D. Green and Sgt. Anthony W. Yribe, who is accused of failing to report the attack.

What happened: Testimony alleged Cortez, Barker and Green all raped, attempted to rape or appeared to rape the girl. A statement from Barker did not say if Howard or Spielman participated in the rape.

What's next: The investigating officer who presided over the Article 32 hearing will prepare a report with a recommendation on whether the case should proceed to court-martial.
