Suns jump over Grasshoppers

The Hagerstown Suns turned the tables on Greensboro on Saturday by getting the first laugh.

The Suns scored four times in the first inning and made the early lead hold up for a 6-5 victory over the Grasshoppers to end a five-game losing streak.

Greensboro took first-inning leads in each of the first two games of the series and made them stand up for 10-3 and 3-0 victories.

The Suns got run-scoring singles by Nick Evans and Will Vogl around an RBI double by Leivi Ventura to jump out to the 4-0 lead.

Hagerstown added single runs in the third and fourth to build a 5-1 lead. Vogl drove in his second run with a double in the third.

Suns starter Jeramy Simmons lasted into the eighth inning, where he gave up four runs without an out.

Kevin Tomasiewicz earned his 15th save.
