The Mongans

Gail and Frances "Betty" Mongan of Funkstown were honored with a celebration of their 60th wedding anniversary Saturday, April 22, 2006, at South Mountain Inn. The dinner was hosted by children and spouses, Linda and Wayne Harbaugh and David and Janet Mongan. In attendance were Vivian Harbaugh, Wayne's mother; a grandson and his wife, Kyle and Stephanie Harbaugh, and their daughter, Jordan.

The Mongans were married April 13, 1946, at St. Paul's Lutheran parsonage in Funkstown by the Rev. Raymond Miller.

They have three grandsons, one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.

The Kershners

Rosemarie (Wilhelm) and Richard E. Kershner Sr. of Severn, Md., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a reaffirmation ceremony and reception at the Church of God in Gambrills, Md., on Saturday, May 27, 2006. The Rev. Drew Shofner officiated. More than 100 family members and friends attended the event.

They also celebrated with a trip to Branson, Mo., and Nashville, Tenn.


The Kershners were married May 26, 1956, at Zion Lutheran Church in Grantville, Pa.

Mrs. Kershner is a graduate of Hershey High School and Harrisburg Business College. She recently retired from an Annapolis-based advertising agency.

Mr. Kershner, formerly of Hagerstown, served 27 years in the U.S. Army, retiring as a command sergeant major at 1st Army Headquarters at Fort Meade, Md., in 1980 and from the Northeast Commissary Region Headquarters in 1998. He also recently retired from an Annapolis-based advertising agency.

The Kershners have four children, Richard E. Kershner Jr., Cheryl K. Greenleaf, Randall E. Kershner and Sandra L. Hare. They have 10 grandchildren.
