"With the gas being as high as it is, no one likes it, but maybe this will give the Washington County BOE school bus drivers a relief of fighting all the traffic on the school grounds property, which that's what they always have to do. Maybe the children will be riding the bus instead of the parents hauling them in and blocking them in all the time, because they have such a time of getting in and out of the schools." - Boonsboro

"The point being made about Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh and a lot of conservatives is, a lot of pro-war people don't seem to want to go to war themselves when it's their turn." - Hagerstown

"I'm an R.N. I just came from Robinwood after 18 rehab sessions (I hurt my leg). I cannot understand whose decision it was to put the hospital there when you see so much traffic, congestion, lack of parking spaces - it's unbelievable." - Hagerstown

"Please read all of the comments of The Herald-Mail Forum in the Aug. 7 paper. Get rid of Ehrlich, Saar and Frank Sizer. They won't admit they have failed the Maryland prison system. Not only can't they see what is wrong, they won't listen to correctional officers who work with the inmates." - Hagerstown

"To the caller from Boonsboro saying they don't like people not dressing up to go to church on Sunday. Why do you have to dress up? I'm an organist, and I hate dressing up every Sunday, but I have to because they expect it, so I look professional. People should go to church no matter what they wear. God loves us all. So many people would go to church, but most of them don't have fancy expensive clothes to wear, so they can't go because they are very discouraged to go. Churches should be open to all people no matter what they wear." - Hagerstown

"In view of the violence and murders of two correctional officers in the past several months in Maryland prisons, why is there any debate about Mary Ann Saar, Secretary of Public Safety and Corrections, and Frank Sizer, Commissioner of Corrections? They should both be fired. Their policies don't work. All they are concerned about is what they can do to make the inmates' stay in prison more comfortable. Why aren't our local legislators calling for and bringing public pressure to oust these two and return security of Maryland's prisons? " - Hagerstown

"I've been hearing on the news about the Alaskan pipeline. They said it's in dire condition or something, and we're not getting the oil, therefore they have to raise the price of gasoline and so forth. I was always under the opinion that this country doesn't use any of that oil. That oil, the way I understand it, has always been exported to foreign countries like Japan and overseas." - Hagerstown

"Our pets do have emotions. They do love, and what is so amazing is that they show it to us every day. Our pets teach us how to love. They are the creatures that actually do like us and want to be around us, so take the time every day to show your pet just how much you love and value them." - Clear Spring

"I'm calling from Waynesboro, Pa., but actually I'm a resident of Hagerstown. I just wanted to know why it is that I feel so threatened to visit a park in Hagerstown and to walk downtown in Hagerstown. It's a shame that I have to drive 15-20 minutes away to a little park in Waynesboro. I'm sitting here not having to worry about being mugged. I don't have to worry about carrying my pepper spray, and I'm just sitting here relaxed, under a tree. It's sad, because I grew up in Hagers-town and it used to be a place where we could do this. With the drug deals, criminals from I guess mostly other states, they've basically taken over everything that is and was precious to me. Therefore I have to drive out of town." - Hagerstown

"This is to the lady from Smithsburg complaining about the comics that have the scantily-clad ladies in the Spiderman comics. Has she watched TV lately? They are also very scantily-clad in the advertisements for (a certain line of underwear), so I wouldn't complain about the newspaper." - Smithsburg

"Someone called in to (You Said It) and said they could not get their tags renewed because they got a ticket for parking in a handicapped spot, and they have handicapped tags on. What amazes me about that is, they sure know every step we take, but they can't keep track of the illegals. That's real smart. They even know when our car needs an emissions test, but they can't keep track of where the child molesters are." - Clear Spring
