BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Reed's Pharmacy at Berkmore Place was burglarized Tuesday morning about 5 a.m., Chief Deputy Tim Stapleton of the Morgan County Sheriff's Department said Wednesday.

The burglar broke the drive-through window to enter the pharmacy, he said.

The call came in to Morgan County 911 about an hour after the call was received that the Morgan County Courthouse was on fire, he said.

"It was the perfect opportunity to take advantage of the fire situation," Stapleton said.

Morgan County Sheriff Ronnie McIntire said he arrived at Reed's about three minutes after the call came in and the suspect had fled.

Stapleton said pill bottles were scattered along the school track at Widmyer Elementary School, across from the medical building that overlooks U.S. 522.

The videotape revealed the robber's size, but the burglar's face was covered, Stapleton said.

"He didn't get any hard drugs like OxyContin," McIntire said.

The pharmacy was open Tuesday morning.

"It was business as usual," employee Lorraine Cox said.
