Fair is true to community vibe

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - After 31 years, not much has changed at the Mercersburg Lions Community Fair. There are still rides. There's still plenty of food.

Event organizer and Mercersburg Lions Club Secretary Jim Zeger said this year's fair will stay true to its community vibe, with traditional carnival rides, booths and live music. Proceeds from the event will go toward the upkeep of Lions Club Community Park and toward a $2,000 prize given out during the club's Halloween event.

Money collected during the Sunday vesper service will benefit the club's Zion Cemetery Restoration fund. Zion Union Cemetery is where the black Civil War soldiers of the Massachusetts 54th are buried.
