'Barnyard' review - Farm animals gone wild

August 08, 2006|by ROBERT KELLER

Moooove along to theaters for the movie "Barnyard," rated PG.

You might think that when you leave farm animals alone, they behave. Well they don't - not these ones - and "Barnyard" captures the party side of the animals.

It's coyote season at the barnyard, and the animals need protection. Ben the cow, voiced by Sam Elliott, is in charge of protecting the animals from the coyotes. His son, Otis, voiced by Kevin James, is a "party animal." When the coyotes attack, will the barnyard be ready?

I enjoyed watching this movie. However, it is a little slow at points. The movie could be a little better, such as when the rabbit is being chased by the coyotes. It is pointless and unnecessary for the movie. I like funny the scene in which the animals are riding motorcycles.

The music is better than I expected with a song in almost every scene.

I gave this movie eight cows out of 10.
