AUGUSTA, Ga. - Augusta scored all the runs it needed with two outs in the bottom of the third inning Saturday night in its 6-3 victory over the Hagerstown Suns.
With the bases loaded and two outs in the third, Suns starter (11-7) Jonanthan Niese hit Eugenio Velez with a pitch as the Green Jackets cut their deficit to 2-1. Michael Mooney followed with a two-run single to give Augusta the lead for good. Julian Benavidez's RBI single made it 4-2.
After Hagerstown made it a one-run game in the fifth on Jonel Pacheco's RBI single, Augusta got the run back in the bottom half as Velez scord from second on reliever Brandon Nall's errant pickoff attempt.
The Jackets added an insurance run in the eighth to complete the scoring.
Hagerstown took a 2-0 lead in the second on Drew Butera's RBI single and Will Vogl's RBI groundout.
