Antietam Call Center

Antietam Call Center of Hagerstown has received the 2006 Award for Excellence for the third consecutive year.

The award is presented annually by the Association of TeleServices International (ATSI), the industry's trade association for providers of telecommunications and call center services, including telephone answering and message delivery.

Antietam Call Center was presented with the award at ATSI's 2006 annual convention at Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland, Maine.


MANITOWOC, Wis. - The Manitowoc Company reported record levels of net sales and earnings for the second quarter ended June 30.


Net sales increased 27 percent to $746.2 million, from $589.6 million during the second quarter of 2005.

Reported earnings per diluted share were 67 cents for the second quarter of 2006, compared to 39 cents for the same quarter in 2005.

Excluding the cost associated with a bond redemption during the quarter and the effect of similar debt reduction costs and discontinued operations during the 2005 quarter, second-quarter earnings per diluted share from continuing operations increased 100 percent to 82 cents in 2006, up from 41 cents for the second quarter of 2005.

Abbey Carpet and Floors

Abbey Carpet and Floors of Hagerstown, founded in May of 1981 by Ralph Abelow as Carpets Unlimited Inc., is preparing to offer a new service in the fall.

With the addition of at-home service, customers will be able to phone Abbey Carpet and receive service in their homes.

Under the program, selections of floor covering will be taken to the homes of those who call.

In 2003, Abbey Carpet opened a division that caters to new-home builders. Through the Abbey Builder Alliance, company representatives work exclusively with homebuilders and contractors to meet their floor-covering needs.

Abbey Carpet has nearly 1,000 stores nationwide.

Patriot Federal Credit Union

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Patriot Federal Credit Union held a groundbreaking ceremony June 20 to mark the beginning of its expansion forject for its main office at 800 Wayne Ave. in Chambersburg.

When the expansion is completed, the main office willl occupy about 46,000 square feet.

The existing building, with 20,000 square feet, will house all member functions, retail branch functions, mortgage service and loan quality departments and collections.

A 23,500-square-foot, two story corporate headquarters building will house an Information Technology and Support Services departments, a new drive-up teller area, executive offices and a board room.

A 2,400-square-foot one-story "link" building will house an employee lounge and training rooms.

Beazer Homes

COLUMBIA, Md. - Beazer Homes, the nation's sixth largest home builder, is building single-family homes and town homes in Greenfield, a new community in Hagers-stown.

Beazer Homes will offer a lineup of four single-family models plus town homes. The single-family homes range in size from 1,884 square feet to 3,078 square feet.

In addition, the company offers floor plans that feature up to four bedrooms and three full baths. The town homes have three bedrooms.
