August 05, 2006

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Former Hagerstown player Julian Benavidez hit a two-run home run before Augusta added an unearned run in the second inning Thursday to hold off the Suns, 3-2.

Benavidez, who played in Hagerstown in 2003 when the San Francisco Giants was the affiliate, tied the game with a two-run shot off Suns starter Bobby Parnell (5-8).

The Green Jackets got the winning run when Antoan Richardson scored when Nick Conte struck out, but reached on catcher Drew Butera's throwing error.

The Suns took a 1-0 lead in the first on Fernando Martinez's leadoff home run. They added a run in the fourth when NIck Evans' RBI scored Jesus Gamero.
